During the month of April only, more than a ton of explosives have been defused in the department of Cauca, with which they planned to attack the inhabitants and the Military Forces in the region.
Within the framework of military operations in the Micay canyon, department of Cauca, troops of the Brigade Against Drug Trafficking No. 3 and the Rapid Deployment Force No. 4, of the Third Division, with the resources of the explosive and demining teams EXDE neutralized more than 100 kilos of improvised explosive devices in different points of the Micay canyon in the department of Cauca.
In the first operation, it was possible to reach the village of Piagua, in the municipality of Tambo, where on a tertiary road a bomb cylinder was found buried in side roads.
According to military intelligence work, these devices would have remained hidden for more than two weeks, with an activation system that gave them a range of more than 100 meters.
Thanks to the differentiated resources of the anti-explosive technicians, the explosives were destroyed in a controlled way, eliminating a serious threat to more than 1300 inhabitants who pass through this sector daily.
In the second military operation, in the village of La Ceiba in the village of El Plateado, it was possible to find and destroy a gas cylinder with 3 anti-personnel mines among illicit plantations, where people of the region constantly travel.
These events would correspond to terrorist operations planned by the Carlos Pati帽o structure, to continue sowing terror and fear within the inhabitants of this important region of the country.
Colombian National Army vehemently rejects the use of these violent and cowardly methods, which constitute a direct violation of human rights and international humanitarian law, and reaffirms its commitment to continue carrying out powerful military operations against the factors of instability that are hitting Colombians.
