Approximately, the finances of the GAO “Clan del Golfo”, substructure 'Héroes de Jesús Carretera' lost sixteen thousand million pesos ($ 16,000,000,000) during an operation conducted against illegal mining in the department of Chocó.
The Colombian Air Force jointly and coordinately with the Army and the National Police, carried out an operation to combat the phenomenon of the illegal exploitation of mining deposits in the municipality of Cantón de San Pablo, where 13 units of illegal mining production were intervened.
This mission left the discovery and destruction of 10 dredges, 10 backhoes and 03 engines used in this illicit practice that seriously damages the water sources of the department, achieving the reduction of the environmental impact over 550 hectares of land, thanks to the decisive participation of Aircraft and intelligence of the Air Combat Command No. 5.
