Within the framework of the thirty-sixth anniversary of the Air Defense specialty, the Eastern Air Group (GAORI) extolled the essential role it has played in fulfilling the constitutional mission, a strategically created Air Military Unit with the purpose of defending national sovereignty of the most extensive border of the country.
This commemoration recognized the work of the hundreds of men and women who, for more than three decades, have defended the Colombian east, imparting the doctrine of military and tactical operation that guides the use of air power in the protection of the national airspace, in order to ensure the dominance and defense of the strategic resources of the State.
The GAORI was created under the foundation of Air Defense and, throughout its experience, officers and non-commissioned officers of the specialty have strengthened their knowledge about Air Combat resources, air doctrine, meteorology and the correct implementation of current regulations for the use of air power for the benefit of all Colombians.
Through this recognition, the commitment of the Colombian Aerospace Force to the surveillance and permanent control of the national airspace is reaffirmed. At the Eastern Air Group base, the mission of protecting the sovereignty and security of all Colombians will continue to be accomplished, under the values of honor, courage and commitment.
