Eastern Naval Force presents operational report of 2020

Through its Naval and Marine Components, the Naval Institution in eastern Colombia has contributed to the consolidation of the national territory, achieving important results during 2020, including the neutralization of 26 members of illegal organizations, the destruction of 1,500 kilograms of explosives, the seizure of more than 3.6 billion colombian pesos, 46 firearms of different calibers with more than 5,200 cartridges, as well as 1,000 kilograms of psychoactive substances, 1,800 kilograms of solid supplies and 2,560 gallons of liquid supplies.

 

In order to protect human life, 15 search and rescue operations have been carried out, safeguarding the lives of 23 people in the rivers of eastern Colombia. This year, 56 boats have been immobilized, the passage of migrants in the border area has been controlled and contraband goods, valued at nearly 139 million colombian pesos, have been seized.

 

In the framework of COVID-19 pandemic, the Eastern Naval Force has carried out more than 500 Comprehensive Action activities to assist Indigenous and poor people, benefiting them with the distribution of more than 100 tons of humanitarian aid.

 

The Colombian Navy, through the Eastern Naval Force, will continue carrying out operations to strengthen the operation in its more than 1,800 km of navigable rivers in the departments of Arauca, Vichada, Meta, Casanare and Guain铆a, in order to safeguard human life in the rivers, ensure the protection of the environment and fight against organized and residual armed groups in this region of the country.
