Thanks to the materialization of a prosecution work that leads to this military operation, where the criminality of the network of support of the residual structure (RAE-r) of the Darío Gutiérrez Group is neutralized, significantly damaging the expansion plans of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc.
In a coordinated, joint and interagency work led by the units of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 9 Tenerife of the Ninth Brigade, Strategic Military Intelligence Battalion No. 3, High Mobility Electronic Warfare Intelligence Battalion, Colombian Aerospace Force, Elite Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the Police Intelligence Section (SIPOL), eight alleged members of the Darío Gutiérrez group, were arrested. This operation was carried out in the urban and rural area of the municipalities of Neiva, Colombia and La Plata in the department of Huila and the municipality of Planadas, Tolima.
According to the military intelligence work, it was possible to establish that these individuals, including three women, were alleged members of the support network for the residual structure of the organization outlaw, who flogged merchants, businessmen and different productive groups of the aforementioned municipalities by extortion. During the search processes, pamphlets alluding to the residual structure were found by troops.
Among those arrested are alias el Tío or Don Berna, head of the RAE-r in Neiva; alias Barbas, head of the RAE-r in Colombia; alias Cachetes, alias Angie, alias Nano, alias Willo and alias La Indomable, head of the RAE-r in Planadas, Tolima, who must answer for the crimes of extortion and association to commit crimes. It was in the same way possible to arrest alias La Momia in flagrante for the crime of manufacturing, carrying and trafficking hallucinogenic substances.
It is worth mentioning that alias el Tío or Don Berna is accused of about ten attacks with improvised explosive devices against commercial establishments in Neiva, aimed at those who refused to pay extortions.
Through this result, the criminal activities of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc and its Darío Gutiérrez group are directly disturbed, which weakens their illicit activities, who had extortion as their main source of financing.
