In the village of Puerto Nuevo, municipality of San Pablo, a military and police operation was carried out and they disabled eight illegal mining production units, allegedly belonging to the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The Colombian Air Force, in conjunction with the National Army, coordinated with the Police and interinstitutional with the Attorney General's Office, destroyed these units that committed crimes as a result of the illegal exploitation of mining deposits, damaging more than 15 hectares of forest.
In the operation, 01 excavator, 02 engines, 01 dredge, 02 power generators, 04 motor pumps, 200 gallons of DIESEL, among other supplies used to carry out this illicit practice, were destroyed.
In this way it was possible to directly hit the finances of the organized armed group by about 2,100 million pesos and they will stop receiving about 210 million pesos per month causing environmental damage, which will take 20 or 30 years to recover.
