The exercise Condor 2024 military operation was successfully carried out; it is a demonstration of the high level of integration and military operations capability of the Colombian Aerospace Force, FAC. The exercise conducted at the facilities of the Air Combat Command No. 1, CACOM-1, in Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca, had as its main objective, to strengthen the missions of Air Special Operations, using maneuvers such as the Forward Area Refueling Point FARP-FARE.
During the exercise, fixed-wing aircraft such as the C-130 Hercules and C-295 Titan were used, the latter equipped with a tanker battery system for the transport of aviation fuel, which leads to conduct refueling of UH-60, AH-60, UH-1H and B-412 helicopters. This technical and logistical procedure leads to significantly extending the range of military operations or helicopters in remote areas, where the availability of fuel is nil. The implementation of the FARP-FARE is aimed at ensuring that air power can carry out critical missions in hard-to-reach areas, thus ensuring the air cover and the necessary support for high-impact operations.
The training in the same way included realistic simulations, which replicated military operations environments in which rapid and efficient response is key to mission fulfillment. These simulations led to the evaluation of the coordination among the crews, the optimization of logistics and the improvement of tactics working by the military operations department under adverse conditions. The joint participation of different air teams demonstrated the FAC's ability to operate in a synchronized manner, maximizing the use of resources.
