Special units of the MARTE group (Handling of Explosive Devices) with security and accompaniment of the Light Cavalry Group No. 7 of the Eighth Division of the National Army, thanks to the support of the community, carried out the search and subsequent controlled destruction of an improvised explosive device planted without any control by members of some outlaw group who commit crimes in the Las Tapias sector, of the municipality of Hato Corozal, Casanare.
This dangerous death trap was found on the side of a road where the inhabitants travel, and was composed of approximately 400 grams of an explosive that could be rudimentary-military or commercial use, with a mechanical activation mechanism that could be activated by the victim when exerting pressure on it.
The explosive was destroyed in controlled conditions. In the same way, a vehicle that is abandoned and incinerated on the road leading from the municipality of Hato Corozal to the municipality of Sacama several days ago was verified with all security measures, ruling out the presence of explosives; the municipal mayor's office was informed on this operation on this important road.
We reject the indiscriminate use of explosive devices against the inhabitants and the troops, these deadly and cowardly traps attack against human rights and international humanitarian law.
In this way, the National Army will continue to carry out search and control operations that will ensure the safety of the people and counter the operations of terrorist groups in this area of the country.
