The Colombian Navy, through units of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Buenaventura, recovered safely two citizens from Buenaventura, victims of extortion in the False service modality in the municipality of Dagua – Valle del Cauca.

The events occurred when the company based in Buenaventura in which the victims worked, received the request to provide the scrap metal collection service in the municipality of Dagua. Already in the area, the two workers received a call from an individual, who identified himself as a member of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, stating that they were being kidnapped and that they would attack their life if they tried to escape.

The criminals contacted one of the victims' families and demanded 30 million pesos for his release. Immediately, the family went to report the disappearance at the facilities of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Buenaventura, who immediately deployed their units in order to carry out the search operation for the victims.

After a rigorous follow-up by the Colombian Navy troops, the victims were found by troops safe and sound in a rural area of the municipality of Dagua, and later they were taken to the facilities of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) de Buenaventura for reunification with their relatives, thus preventing the payment of extortion.
