A raging fire in the department of Valle del Cauca threatens several houses in a rural area of western Cali. In response to the emergency, the protocols for the use of the Bambi Bucket system, operated by Colombian Aerospace Force crews, were activated.
Given the impossibility of neutralizing the fire with ground maneuvers, the Air Combat Command No. 7, in support of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, deployed a special operation to slow its spread on Cerro La Cajita, in Pichind茅.
The mission is being led in a UH-60 helicopter, which has carried out 11 water drops with 4,200 gallons of water and 46 gallons of retardant liquid over the areas of difficult access to this hill to contain the conflagrations.
The Colombian Aerospace Force, through its National Personnel Recovery Center, CENRP, will continue through this aerial mission, working with the maximum preparation of its resources to quell the fire and prevent it from continuing to ravage the fauna and flora of this place.
