In less than a week, the Colombian navy prevented the entry of more than $ 84 million to Farc dissident groups, with the finding of more than 4.7 tons of illicit drugs.
In two maritime interdiction operations, the Colombian navy seized a semi-submarine, a go fast boat and 2,006 kilograms of illicit drugs that would be transported to Central America.
In the first operation, Buenaventura Coast Guard units detected a semi-submarine-type naval device while transiting in the waters of the central Pacific, immediately initiating its pursuit. Upon noticing the work of the naval units, the three crew members of the semi-submarine opened the valves which produced the entry of water to the naval device, in order to sink it, however, the rapid reaction of the military led to the arrest of the Colombian individuals and the recovery of 52 sacks containing 920 kilograms of cocaine.
At the same time, 25 nautical miles north of Gorgona Island, Coast Guard units carried out a maritime interception operation that led to the interception of a go fast-type ship as it moved at high speed towards Central America. During the inspection, 39 bags containing 1,086 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops. The two crew members of the boat, of Nicaraguan nationality, were arrested.
These two results, added to the 2.7 tons of narcotics found in recent days, leave 4,756 kilograms of illicit drugs found by the Colombian Navy in less than a week, in addition to preventing the circulation of 4,800,000 doses of cocaine and 470,776 doses of marijuana, which mitigates the increase in new drug users worldwide, violent deaths generated by microtrafficking and the death of people by overdose.
In the same way, during these operations at sea, the Coast Guard units of Buenaventura have managed to find two revolvers, a shotgun, a changon (Ithaca 37) and ammunition of different calibers.
