Forum Challenges to the State for the Construction of Historical Memory - Lessons learned from Germany and Argentina

The panel counted on the presence of Thomas Kr眉ger, President of the Federal Center for Political Education (BPB) of Germany, Ana Gugliemucch, expert in the construction of memory after the military dictatorship in Argentina, Camila Medina, Director of Memory Construction of the National Center of Memory and the Major General, Luis Felipe Montoya S谩nchez, Chief of joint Historical Memory and Context of the military forces.

Bogot谩. The newspaper El Espectador through its initiative Colombia2020, in its section Justice for Peace, held the forum "State Reports for the Construction of Historical Memory - Lessons Learned from Germany and Argentina," in which Major General Montoya participated on behalf of the Military Forces as a panelist in the first conversation: What institutional conditions does Colombia need to build historical memory?

During his speech, Major General Luis Felipe Montoya highlighted that victims must be recognized and included by the public force in the constriction of comprehensive memory and that is why the Military and Police Forces will not be an obstacle for peace, for the clarification of the truth, and for the Special Jurisdiction for Peace. He also said that this work is being done jointly with the Comprehensive System of Justice, Reparation and Guarantees of No Repetition.

He in the same way, highlighted that the Military and Police Forces are governed by articles 217, 218 of the Political Constitution of Colombia and, based on that, men and women of land, sea and air work to sustain democracy, exercise territorial control and provide the safety of citizens.
