The Fourth Division of Colombian National Army informs :

COMUNICADO DE PRENSA

1. In the early morning of today, a platoon of the 19th Joaqu铆n Par铆s Infantry Battalion, in charge of the security of the Former Territorial Space of Instruction and Reintegration (AETCR) of Charras, in the department of Guaviare, created in 2016 as a Transitional Zone of Normalization, was ambushed and attacked by members of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Jorge Su谩rez Brice帽o.

2. At the moment, the murder of six of the heroes is confirmed, including Deputy Sergeant Darwin P茅rez S谩nchez and specialist soldiers Jairo Arteaga Estrada, Anderson Steven Boh贸rquez Ospina, Juan David Gonz谩lez Fern谩ndez, Carlos Andr茅s Pushaina Pushaina and Moises David Cuadros Ruiz. In addition, five of the men who had been kidnapped during the criminal attack were handed over in Guanapalo by members of this illegal armed group.

3. Once the situation was known, the Army Command ordered the immediate displacement of the Head of Operations of the Institution to the site of the events, in addition to the deployment of troops in support of the activation of all intelligence, air mobility and military operation resources in the region to reinforce the military maneuver in the area.

4. It should be noted that we act in accordance with paragraph 1, of Decree 0448 of April 17, 2025, by which the suspension of military operations is ordered, without prejudice to the fulfillment of the function and constitutional and legal obligation of the Military Forces to preserve the security of the national territory, and work to increase the constitutional and legal order, and ensure the necessary conditions for the exercise of public rights and freedoms.

Through these criminal operations, is possible to see the breach of the commitments obtained through the agreements and protocols signed within the framework of the dialogue and negotiation table, which is being conducted by the national Government with the General Staff of blocs and fronts of the FARC-EP (EMBYF FARC-EP), which are currently in force.

5. We reject the alleged direct participation of some civilians in the situation, an action that will be brought to the authority and international organizations, through the denunciation and respective reports.

6. This Command sends its condolences to the families and partners of the murdered sergeant and soldiers, through the accompaniment and support available to them by the Military Family Center of the Twenty-second Brigade of Colombian National Army.

7. The military operations will continue to be conducted in the region, keeping firm the constitutional mission of protecting the inhabitants and preserving security in the national territory.
