Thanks to operations conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the Navy and the National Police, it was possible over the weekend to find and destroy a gigantic laboratory for production and manufacturing of coca-based paste in the north of the department of Chocó. The laboratory belonged to the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.
This big structure, located in the sector of La Larga Tumaradó, in the municipality of Riosucio, was made of seven wooden and plastic spaces, where almost two tons of cocaine hydrochloride, about 4,500 kilos of solid supplies and 4,200 gallons of liquid supplies were found by troops. Those elements were used for the production and manufacture of the drug.
This operation, in which Colombian Air Force aircraft participated, hit the illicit finances of the Clan del Golfo, since the rudimentary complex produced up to four tons of narcotics per month, approximately USD $6.7 million.
