This result takes place thanks to the operation of the Military Forces against drug trafficking on Route I-24, south of the department.
As part of the Murus Plan, troops of the 26th Cacique Pigoanza Infantry Battalion of the Ninth Brigade, together with the 6th Cavalry Light Group and the Anti-Narcotics Police, found 124 kilos of marijuana in the village of El Dinde, a rural area of the municipality of La Plata.
The result occurred when soldiers and police officers were conducting a checkpoint and ordered a car to stop, whose driver ignored and started to escape. Faced with the situation, the troops reacted and intercepted the vehicle two kilometers later. During the inspection, they found 35 packages with marijuana in the back of the car.
The driver was arrested and must answer for his alleged responsibility in the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and/or carrying narcotics. Both the drug and the vehicle were put into custody of the authority for prosecution.
This shipment, which would cost approximately more than 180 million pesos, represents a direct blow to illicit activities, preventing the commercialization of about 248 thousand doses of marijuana on the illegal market.
