In 2022, the Colombian Navy has found more than 51 tons of cocaine hydrochloride.

During an operation of the Colombian Navy jointly with the National Army and coordinated with the Technical Research Corps -CTI - in rural Magdalena area, a new blow was dealt to drug trafficking with the finding of two illegal hiding places inside which more than 150 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops.

The operation took place when units of the Caribbean Naval Special Forces Group together with crewmen of the Santa Marta Coast Guard Station, jointly with troops of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Army and in coordination with CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) units, guided by intelligence information of the Colombian Navy, moved to the rural area of Orihueca in the banana zone of the department of Magdalena.

Upon arriving at the place, the troops began the search of the area finding the first hideout that was used by drug trafficking organizations for the storage of narcotic substances; inside, they found sacks with 60 rectangular packages apparently of cocaine hydrochloride.

In the midst of the difficulties of the terrain, the members of the Military Forces continued to conduct the search and reported the finding of the second hideout used as a storage center for illicit substances, when carrying out the inspection, they found buried some boxes containing 91 rectangular packages apparently with drugs.

The 151 packages were put under examination by officials of the Attorney General's Office, leaving positive result for 152.6 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. No arrests occurred during the operation; the material was put into custody of the authorities.

The value of the cargo found exceeds five million dollars in the international illegal market, money that stops entering the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean.
