Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan and in compliance with the tasks of stability and control of the territory, troops of Colombian National Army, jointly, coordinated and in interinstitutional way, carried out the finding and destruction of an illegal narcotics hideout in the rural area of the municipality of Puerto Asís, department of Putumayo.
The military operation was carried out by the Twenty-Seventh Rainforest Brigade, through the Engineer Battalion No. 27 Manuel Castro Bayona, in conjunction with the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 30 and in coordination with the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) of the National Police in Puerto Asís.
During the search procedure, the authorities found a building in the Ancurá village, where an illegal hideout was found containing 650 kilograms of marijuana, equivalent to approximately 650,000 doses, with an estimated cost of two billion Colombian pesos, about USD$488,000 in the international market.
The material found was put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office against Drug Trafficking for its respective prosecution.
Through this military operation, Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy and the National Police reaffirm their commitment to the frontal fight against drug trafficking, a problem that so much damage does to Colombian society and that fuels violence. Therefore, the institutional commitment is to continue working in the defense and security of the country, working together for the legality, tranquility and well-being of the department of Putumayo.
