In a press meeting held in Villavicencio, Brigadier General Ciro Hernán Espinel Luengas, Commander of the Air Combat Command No.2, CACOM 2, informed that operations will be expanded and strengthened to serve patients requiring priority transportation to the capital city of the Republic. The people will be organized through the Secretariats of Departmental and Municipal Health, previous coordination with the CRUE (Emergency Regulatory Center) and the National Center for Recovery of Personnel (CNRP).

It was in the same way announced that under the instructions of the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, and with the authorization of the Ministries of Transportation, Defense and the Aerocivil, General Ramsés Encuentro Rueda, Commander of the Colombian Air Force, offered the airfield of the Air Combat Command No.2, in Apiay, so that commercial airlines can operate larger passenger aircraft on a humanitarian air bridge between Bogotá and Villavicencio.

These coordination with the commercial airlines are projected to transport personnel during the day and cargo, during the night hours, remembering that the CACOM 2 is a military unit and therefore this decision obeys a temporary measure until the conditions of the roads improve.

To date, more than 1,000 passengers and 118 tons have been transported to the city of Bogotá and it is expected that these figures will increase in the coming days with the measures designed to meet coordinately, the needs of many people with special health conditions that require this humanitarian air connection or those who have waited several weeks to receive their vital medicines.
