Soldiers of the Humanitarian Demining Engineers Battalion No.3, who work in 10 municipalities in Santander and three in Caldas have decontaminated more than 50,000 square meters.

The figure is about the work carried out this year, it is the result of the commitment of the Heroes who rise up every morning with the mission of fulfilling their duty to Colombia, clearing the fields and sowing hope.

In the municipalities such as Samaná, Pensilvania and Marulanda in the department of Caldas, the mine clearance specialists have destroyed three explosive devices, freeing 20,542 square meters .

As for the Santander department, the soldiers have cleared 34,499 square meters of the municipalities of Suratá, Matanza, Girón, Simacota, Sucre, El Playón, Landázuri, Hato and Chima, where they in the same way destroyed unexploded ammunition.

It must be taken into account that thanks to humanitarian demining, the department of Santander has 19 municipalities free of suspicion of antipersonnel mines, where 242 antipersonnel mines have been destroyed along with 31 unexploded ordnance and 774,000 square meters have been decontaminated.

In the same way, the effort and tasks carried out by the members of the Humanitarian Demining Battalion No.3, led to ruling out contamination in the municipality of Aguadas, in the department of Caldas.
