Soldiers of the Humanitarian Demining Engineer Battalion No. 7 and the Land Restitution Unit (URT) will build a house that will benefit an Antioquia family.
In a few days the union of these two institutions will make Javier Gallo and his family's dream of having their own house come true.
The Gallo family live in the village of Miraflores, municipality of San Carlos, and thanks to the URT, which donated the construction materials, such as blocks, cement sacks, and wood, the soldiers will do their job of building this house until it becomes habitable.
It should be noted that this project is part of an initiative of the URT, whose objective is to improve the quality of life of the families in need, promoting citizen participation and teamwork. However, the manpower was lacking, so the support of the mine clearance specialists working in the area was requested.
Corporal Adri谩n Chungana Z煤帽iga, leader of demining, said: "We are contributing a grain of sand for the construction of the house of Mr. Javier Gallo, who received materials from the Land Restitution Unit. We met the soldiers supporting this extra activity with the best attitude, so that mister Gallo can enjoy a decent home and provide comfort to his family. We extend our duty to cover this vulnerable inhabitants, since we are a Battalion that deploys demining tasks, but we in the same way provide support to the people of this sector, such as the Miraflores village."
For his part, Javier Gallo said: "I thank these demining men, who have been supporting me practically since the beginning of the work. I'm very happy. We have received a very great contribution and we have conducted more than we would have done alone. I am happy because soon I will enjoy a decent house. I have received support for the foundations of the house, the backfills and at every stage of the construction, thanks to the Demining men."
The activity will continue over the next few weeks with the goal of completely making habitable the house to this family who needs it so much, and is looking forward to moving to their new home.
