In the framework of the Esparta Military and Police Campaign, the discovery of war material, precursors and machinery, belonging to the organized armed group Eln, was achieved.

Troops of the National Army found two illegal hideouts, where precursors for the production of cocaine hydrochloride and war material were hidden.

In the first operation in the village La Perla municipality of Tibú, the soldiers found 2,500 kilos of Metabisulphite sodium, 100 kilos of lime, 3,850 gallons of Acetone, 100 gallons of hydrochloric acid, a compressor and 90 metal barrels.

In the same way, in the village Kilometro 19 of the same municipality, troops found two rifles, 369 cartridges of different calibers, magazines, four antipersonnel mines, six electronic detonators and two bracelets allusive to outlaw organizations.

The improvised explosive devices were destroyed under controlled conditions by the Explosives and Demolitions team (EXDE), thus preventing possible attacks against the civilian population and the troops that provide security in the region.
