Joint and interagency operation of the Military and Police Forces takes approximately 3,996 million pesos of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Bolivarian Army National Coordinator, Iván Ríos Structure, which weakens its criminal resources and strengthens the security of the communities of the Nariño Pacific.
Within the framework of the Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho Plus and through a joint and interagency operation, troops of the Rainforest Battalion N.° 53, AS of the Hercules Task Force and the Rapid Deployment Force N.° 2, with the support of units of the National Navy, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Police, reported the finding and destruction of an illegal laboratory for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in the village Corriente Seca, rural area of the municipality of Tumaco, department of Nariño.
This laboratory would have an approximate production capacity of one and a half tons per month and, apparently, according to information obtained by military intelligence, it would belong to the GAO-r Bolivarian Army National Coordinator, Iván Ríos Structure, with a presence on the banks of the Rosario River.
The operation led to the intervention of three structures used for production, accommodation and logistical support, as well as the destruction of 714 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, along with essential equipment for the continuous production of the drug, including 7 distillation towers, 7 electric motors, 3 distillation systems, 10 microwave ovens, compressors, a vacuum packer, a hydraulic press and 67 tanks used for storage and chemical production. This is complemented by the finding of one communications element and 20 antipersonnel mines-type explosive devices.
This result represents an economic loss of approximately 3996 million pesos, which significantly weakens the financial, logistical and military operations resources of this gang that seeks to sustain illicit activities that hit the security and tranquility of the communities of the Nariño Pacific region.
Every operation that cuts the drug trafficking chains reduces the availability of illicit substances, limits the risks associated with their consumption and contributes to the protection of children and young people. Through these operations, the Military Forces and the National Police reaffirm their mission commitment to continue carrying out operations aimed at protecting the inhabitants, blocking sources of illegal financing and contributing to strengthening security in this region of the country.
