During search and control operations carried out by Colombian Navy troops, it was possible to immobilize liquid and solid supplies that would have a cost of more than 345 million pesos, which would be used for the production of illicit substances.
The procedures carried out by Navy Infantry units, in the municipalities of Pinillos and Regidor, in Bolívar, La Gloria - Cesar, and on the waters of the Atrato River, in Quibdó - Chocó department, led to the immobilization of approximately 6,650 gallons of gasoline, 10,150 gallons of DIESEL and 69 tons of cement.
Through the inspections carried out on the boats and vehicles on the land and river roads of the Colombian Caribbean, it was evident that this material did not have the documentation sought for the transportation of those elements, since this material could be used for the preparation of drugs, so the elements were put into custody of the authorities in these municipalities. No arrests were made during the operations.
These operations demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategies in the fight against drug trafficking, significantly weakening the logistical structures of the criminal groups that commit crimes in this region of the Caribbean. In the same way, the commitment to environmental protection is reaffirmed, since the illegal manipulation and use of these precursors generate a negative impact on local ecosystems.
The Colombian Navy, through the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1 and its tactical units, will continue to use its resources and means, in the areas under its responsibility, to contribute to the development and well-being of the inhabitants of this region of the country. In the same way, people are invited to report in a timely manner and to the authorities any situation that puts the safety of its inhabitants at risk.
