The Colombian Navy through the Caribbean Naval Force benefited about a thousand inhabitants of the island people of Isla Fuerte, found in the archipelago of the Rosario Islands approximately 52 kilometers from Cartagena, with a Development Support Activity in which 11 thousand gallons of drinking water, medicines and food were distributed.
This important work for the well-being of these people was possible thanks to the coordinated work of the Colombian Navy with the Government of Bolívar, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing, the National Police, and the use of the dual resources boats of the Naval Institution, on this occasion, with the ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo, an Amphibious Landing Ship that has the capacity to transport more than 200 tons of cargo and 130 thousand gallons of water, which is why it is a fundamental piece in humanitarian assistance operations and support to the civil authorities.
The activity was attended by the Governor of Bolívar, Yamil Arana, who, together with his work team and the staff of the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas, toured the territory and met with people in order to get to know first-hand the problems in the region and establish strategies that led solving them and continuing to strengthen the quality and standard of living of its inhabitants.
The Colombian Navy will continue to contribute with its human and technical resources to the Nation and the well-being of its island communities, contributing directly to improving the living conditions of its inhabitants and strengthening the bonds of partnership and cooperation conducted by the inhabitants and the Naval Institution.
