During the operation, one citizen of Ecuadorian nationality and two Colombians were arrested.
The illegal goods would be destined for Central America.
As part of the operations against drug trafficking and transnational crime, the Colombian Navy find 893 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, transported on board a ship that was crewed by three individuals, two of Colombian nationality and one Ecuadorian.
The chase, which lasted for approximately 20 minutes, took place when a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station, with the support of an aircraft of the Joint Interagency Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States - JIATFS, detected a ship traveling suspiciously, 170 nautical miles of the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.
Once the interception was possible, 45 sacks of different shapes and sizes were found by troops inside the ship, which, due to their characteristics and packaging, would resemble illicit substances. In the same way, six barrels with fuel, 50 9-millimeter caliber cartridges and a magazine were found by troops.
Subsequently, the three individuals and the material found were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, determining that the packages contained 893 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Those arrested were put into custody of the authority to conduct the corresponding legal procedures.
Through this operation, the Naval Institution prevented more than 40 million dollars from entering the drug trafficking, as well as the distribution of 2.2 million doses of cocaine, on the streets of the world.
