As part of joint military operations against drug trafficking and related crimes, the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the Colombian Aerospace Force and Colombian National Army, intercepted a Go Fast type boat off the coast of Alta Guajira.
As part of the fulfillment of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, and thanks to the air interception resources of the Colombian Aerospace Force, the maritime interception resources of the Colombian Navy and the support of Colombian National Army, it was possible to detect the activity of a suspicious ship over Caribbean waters, to which the Colombian Aerospace Force made a detailed follow-up, which led to the timely deployment of a Naval Special Forces operation of the Colombian Navy.
The boat, approximately 13 meters long and with four outboard motors, was apparently abandoned by its occupants when they noticed the activity of the authorities. During the investigation, several sacks were found by troops inside with packages that, due to their physical characteristics and packaging, would correspond to cocaine hydrochloride.
Once secured, the boat was transported to a position at sea from which Coast Guard units towed it to Riohacha, Department of La Guajira, where Judicial Police officers of the National Police conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, which tested positive for 3,204 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, illegal merchandise that in the illegal market could cost approximately 153 million dollars, represented in more than eight million doses.
This result takes place thanks to the joint operations of the Military Forces, and reflects the effectiveness of inter-institutional work, which leads to anticipate, intercept and neutralize drug trafficking routes in the country.
