In 2025, the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, has found about 30 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, that is 5.8 tons by own means and more than 24 tons through multinational cooperation.
Through this consolidated achievement, the finances of criminal groups at the service of drug trafficking are hit by more than 1,400 million dollars.
The Colombian Navy, jointly with the Colombian Aerospace Force, seized an illegal merchandise of more than four tons of cocaine, when it was being transported aboard a go fast type boat, approximately 106 nautical miles (196 kilometers) northwest of Cartagena, Bolivar department.
This result was possible thanks to the continuous control and surveillance efforts carried out by the Colombian Navy, in the maritime communication lines of the region, as well as in its maritime, coastal and insular spaces. On this occasion, troops detected a boat sailing suspiciously and at high speed, apparently with the criminal intention of reaching the coasts of Central America, with a shipment of narcotics.
Immediately, a joint maritime interception operation began, in which a Coastal Patrol Boat, an Oceanic Police Officer, two Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Units – URR and two Colombian Navy aircraft, as well as an aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force, participated. For several hours, they conducted the pursuit of the suspicious boat, until it was intercepted by.
Once the interception procedure was completed, the immobilized boat was carried out, in which 161 sacks with 4,010 rectangular packages were found by troops, similar to those used by criminal organizations for drug trafficking. There were five people on board, four Colombians and one Honduran, who were arrested in flagrante delicto.
The immobilized boat, the arrested individuals and the material were transported to a safe place on the Colombian Caribbean coast, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, which tested positive for 4,015 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, an illegal merchandise that in the international illegal market would have an approximate cost of 192 million dollars, from which around 10 million doses could be extracted. Once the urgent acts were completed, the material, the boat and the individuals were put into custody of the authority.
