In Meta and Putumayo, Military Forces neutralize 9 laboratories, where coca base paste was processed

Colombian Navy units carrying out surveillance, interception and river security operations find and neutralize nine laboratories for the production of coca base paste, in which the residual organized armed groups, GAO-r, that commit crimes in the region processed about half a ton of this drug per month.

These operations were carried out by troops attached to Navy Brigade no.3 in the Departments of Meta and Putumayo, where, jointly and in coordination with the Military Forces, they found and destroyed in controlled conditions 1,325 gallons of liquid precursors, 407 kilograms of solid precursors and 665 kilograms of coca leaf, precursors that were used for drug production.

With the neutralization of these illegal laboratories, the production chain of approximately 500 kilograms of coca base paste per month is interrupted. Apparently, these laboratories belonged to the residual Organized Armed Groups Comandos De Frontera and Jorge Briceño structures that commit crimes in the region.

During the operations, no arrests were made and the elements found were put into custody of the authorities.

This year, the Southern Naval Force has managed to destroy 142 laboratories in this region of the country, ratifying its continued commitment to carry out search operations and river control, thus denying the mobility of criminal groups along river routes.
