Military and police forces find about 500 kilograms of cocaine in the Colombian Pacific

This year, about 50 tons of cocaine have been found by the Colombian Navy, thanks to a constant fight against drug trafficking.

The Colombian Navy, in a joint and coordinated operation with the National Army and the Police, discovered 488 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were being transported by four individuals aboard a speedboat, in Candelilla de la Mar, to the south of the department of Nariño.

Thanks to information from Intelligence, a ship was detected late at night and at high speed. It had left the Nicaraguan coasts for Central America. Immediately, units of the Navy of Colombia that maintain the operation against drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific, moved to the area to make close the way of the boat.

Upon noticing the presence of the authorities, the crew of the flipper-type boat tried to flee to the open sea, but after a four-hour chase, they were intercepted. Once in the facilities of the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, the boat was thoroughly inspected. Troops found a double bottom that contained 488 kilograms in compact blocks of cocaine hydrochloride, according to the Preliminary Initial Test - Piph, carried out by the Anti-narcotics Police.

During the first five months of the year, the Colombian Navy has dealt blunt blows to drug trafficking in operations carried out by the Pacific Naval Force, under the coordination and direction of the Anti-Drug Task Force 'Poseidon', which has led to find 49,148 kilograms of cocaine.

The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out operations against organizations that serve drug trafficking, in order to neutralize the logistical structure of those armed groups, where the figure of nearly 50 tons in the Colombian Pacific is undoubtedly the better evidence of Colombia's commitment to face this situation.
