One of the arrested is an individual accused of being one of the trusted men of alias El Enano.
The deployment of sustained joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations by the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office led to the arrest of three individuals who had arrest warrants in force.
In the first operation, carried out in the capital city of the department of Arauca, it was possible to arrest in flagrante delicto an individual identified by the authorities as Hermes Mejía Cornelio, who would apparently be one of the trusted men of alias El Enano. During the operation, a 9-mm handgun, a magazine, 22 cartridges of the same calibre, a ballistic vest and a considerable amount of cash, proceeding from extortion and the sale of narcotics, were seized.
In the second operation, coordinated and conducted by the Army and the National Police, in the municipality of Tame, Arauca, it was possible to arrest an individual identified by the authorities as Melkicided Hidalgo Pérez who, apparently, belonged to the support networks of Organised Armed Group residual, GAO-r, Structure Tenth.
The individual, who was traveling in a motorcycle-type vehicle without plates, was followed by the authorities, and at the time of the search it was found in his possession a 38-mm caliber handgun and six cartridges of the same caliber.
Finally, in the municipality of Saravena, it was possible to arrest a man who had a current judicial order issued by the municipal court for the crime of aggravated theft. Those arrested along with the material found were given to the authorities to continue with their prosecution process.
