Within the framework of the intervention plan, the Military Forces in the District of Buenaventura carry out joint, coordinated and inter-agency operations, which to date completes 62 days of intervention, with surveillance and control operations since December 31, 2020, in which the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office participate, leaving excellent results in terms of security.
About 1,200 military are part of this strategy, which includes measures such as the installation of checkpoints and Road, land and air patrols, Screening and identification of people and work of military personnel in the urban area at critical points in localities 7, 8, 9 and 12. In the same way, through the naval units of the Naval Force of the Pacific, the Maritime and river communication lines of the Pacific Coast are protected through the control of these spaces.
The front line in the fight against the factors of instability and generators of violence in the District of Buenaventura has led to substantially improve the security status of the Port, to meet the responsibilities that arise from early warnings and precautionary measures, which has led to progress in the reconstruction of the social fabric and the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants.
During the control operations that have been conducted this year 126 members of the Organized crime Gang, La Local have been arrested as well as 11 individuals accused of belonging to groups of drug trafficking. Troops also have found 93 firearms, 5,057 cartridges of ammunition, 47 units of communications equipment, 5,100 kg of cocaine hydrochloride, 3.546 kilograms of marijuana, three illegal infrastructures, 2,302 cubic meters of wood and 822 gallons of fuel.
In this strategy, alias Cheo, alias P贸lvora, alias Coco and alias Breyner, four of the Most Wanted Criminals in Buenaventura have been captured. In the same way, alias Jhon Gracia, alias Morfeo, alias Larry or Papa China, alias Canoso, alias Locura and alias Ru, accused of being part of criminal organizations that commit crimes in the sector, were also captured.
With these operations, territorial control is maintained in sectors considered as critical points, reducing the rates of crimes such as theft, extortion and micro-trafficking.
