In a successful joint operation conducted by Colombian National Army and the Colombian Aerospace Force, in coordination with the National Police, an important result was possible during a combat against members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO Clan del Golfo, in the municipality of El Dovio, Valle del Cauca.
During the confrontation, the threat of two individuals were neutralized, including alias Omar or nino, the main ringleader of the Carlos V谩squez substructure and responsible for the criminal activities of the Pablo Jos茅 Montalvo Cuitiva substructure. This individual was responsible for numerous terrorist acts against the Military Forces and the inhabitants, and had a key role in coordinating activities related to drug trafficking and illicit activities on the Colombian Pacific coast.
In addition, it was possible to neutralize an individual of the security structure of the Clan del Golfo, which significantly contributes to weakening the ability of this armed group to carry out its criminal operations.
During the operation, four camps were found by troops with the capacity to house up to 30 terrorists, which were hastily abandoned by the members of the Clan del Golfo. At the site, the military Forces found significant war material, including 1,184 cartridges of different calibers, seven magazines, four improvised explosive devices and a large amount of medical equipment, military accessories and communications equipment, used to carry out their criminal operations.
Through this result, the criminal structure is directly impacted, weakening the command, control and resources subsystem, damaging the maintenance of mobility routes and drug trafficking routes, both national and international. In the same way, the flow of illicit activities aimed at the expansion of the Armed Group Organized through extortion and drug trafficking activities in the municipalities of Dovio, Versalles, Roldanillo, La Uni贸n, Bol铆var, Zarzal and Toro diminishes.
There is, in the same way, the breaking of the criminal lines of the structure of Juan de Dios 脷suga and Pablo Jos茅 Montalvo Cautiva, who are associated with drug trafficking and illegal mining. Finally, the capacity to carry out terrorist operations, selective assassinations, forced displacements and confinement of the communities in the department of Choc贸 and Valle del Cauca is decreasing.
