In compliance with the Bicentenary Operations Plan, Heroes Of Freedom, a joint operation was carried out conducted by the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, resulting in the neutralization of three members of the organized armed group, GAO, Los Caparros.

In the village La Esmeralda, Municipality of Cáceres, these individuals, among them alias Coyará, in charge of Finance and accused of several homicides and criminal businesses in this area of Bajo Cauca Antioqueño (lower Cauca in the department of Antioquia), were neutralized. The urgent acts were carried out by the National Police and the Attorney General's Office.

Air Force aircraft participated in this mission, providing support to ground troops and air escort while the bodies were being moved to be handed over to the authority.

In the same way, troops found rifles, grenades and cartridges that were used to cause damage to civilians.
