The events occurred this weekend in the hamlet Caño Amarillo, municipality of Vistahermosa, in Meta, where the troops of the Joint Task Force 'Omega' and the Colombian Air Force, found and recovered a habitant who was being threatened and extorted via telephone, while traveling in his truck in this area.
Once the troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.6 knew of the facts, they initiated a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force, to find, guard and return the habitant to a safe area.
The Air Force sent a Harpy helicopter from San José del Guaviare, to find the truck in which this citizen was traveling, and guard him while the travel.
According to the first information, the driver of the vehicle was intercepted by telephone by strangers, who extort him and threaten him.
The Joint Task Force 'Omega' is providing all the support that is required to the authorities, so that they can clarify the circumstances of time, manner and place in which the events occurred and those responsible. It in the same way it reiterates its commitment to safeguard the community in the south-east of the country and invites the community to denounce any act of extortion.
