The individuals trapped when they received the initial payment of 70 million pesos, the result of an extortion carried out against a cattle rancher in the area, in exchange for not kidnapping his family members.

Thanks to the intelligence work of the Magdalena Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Second Brigade, of the First Division of the National Army, coordinately with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, four individuals were captured. They pretended to be members of the GAO “Clan del Golfo”, and extorted money from a cattle rancher in the region in exchange for not kidnapping some members of his family.

The timely information provided in the toll-free line 147, led the Unified action Group for Personal Freedom to find the whereabouts of the individuals, 26, 34, 40 and 49, who, on several occasions, would have intimidated the victim to demand 70 million pesos in exchange for not attacking on the freedom of his family members.

The detention occurred in military operations in the village Las Flores de María, San Angel municipality, where the men were trapped when they received an initial payment of 9 million pesos. In the middle of the procedure, troops found two revolvers caliber 38 millimeters, a shotgun caliber 12 millimeters and two motorcycles.

In the firefight one of the individuals ended up with injuries near the abdomen and in the right arm, immediately he received the timely assistance of the combat nurses and was later taken to a wellbeing center in the municipality of Pivijay.

The material and the four detainees were put into custody of the authorities.
