Soldiers of the Fifth Brigade find a laboratory for the production of cocaine, another for the production of coca base paste and an area of illicit cultivation.
Soldiers of the Battalion Ricaurte of the Fifth Brigade, Second Division of the National Army, in coordination with the National Police, could found and destroy a cocaine laboratory for the production of cocaine hydrochloride, a laboratory production of coca base and an area with illicit cultivations in the village, La Peregrina, in the municipality of El Carmen, Norte de Santander.
Inside the cocaine laboratory were found by troops 726 kilograms of cocaine, 3,542 gallons of liquid precursors, 1,400 kilograms of solid precursors as well as a distillation tower, a boiler, a press, a hydraulic jack, a compressor, two gas cylinders, four microwave ovens, two precision scales, a worm with 6 mouths, two industrial tanks with a capacity of 1,000 liters and 54 barrels of different capacities.
This complex generated a monthly production of 500 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, costing more than 4,200 million pesos, apparently to favor the finances of the Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, 41 that commits crimes in that region.
In the same sector, the soldiers in the same way found a laboratory for production coca base paste that produced 100 kilograms of the hallucinogen valued at 50 million pesos a week. Similarly, very close to this point, they eradicate 0.41 hectares of coca bush.
With this operation, the economic arm of the GAO-r, Structure 41, which is financed by the drug trafficking chain to commit terrorist acts against the Military Forces and civilians, receives a decisive blow. For this reason, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to continue carrying out military operations to neutralize the criminal intentions of the different factors of instability in the region.
