In the department of Nariño, the Colombian Navy, within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, has carried out in the first half of 2025, the finding and destruction of more than 200 illegal constructions used for the production of coca paste base.
The operations were carried out by troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 4, in the municipalities of El Charco, Francisco Pizarro, Mosquera, Olaya Herrera, Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé and Tumaco, in the department of Nariño, resulting in the destruction of 248 laboratories for the production of coca paste base, which had the capacity to produce tons of narcotics monthly.
Inside these constructions, more than 22 tons of solid precursors and 107,871 gallons of liquid precursors were found by troops. In the same way, an approximate of six tons of cocaine hydrochloride and more than 315 kilograms of coca paste base were found by troops.
According to Naval Intelligence information, the laboratories would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group – GAO-r, Alfonso Cano, Structura Iván Ríos and Rafael Aguilera, criminal organizations that use drug trafficking as the main source of financing for their criminal operations against the Military Forces and the communities of the South Pacific of Nariño.
It should be noted that, for the construction and operation of each of these constructions, more than one hectare of natural resources is damaged; the chemical residues used in the production of narcotics are indiscriminately dumped into soils and water sources, generating significant environmental damage.
Through these powerful results, the finances of the criminal organizations that commit crimes in the South Pacific were hit by more than 315 million dollars.
