By means of checkpoints, 224 units of wood have been found which hits the economy of the criminal groups that pass through the roads of this sector of the Coffee Region.
During the monitoring carried out on the road axis between Risaralda and Chocó, the troops of the Meteoro Plan of the National Army, have achieved this year, the finding of 224 blocks of wood of different types, valued at more than 30 million pesos. The wood did not have the legal documentation.
In the municipality of Santa Cecilia, the soldiers, in coordination with the National Police, reported a truck in which individuals mobilized 160 wooden planks of "Higuerón", approximately 20 cubic meters, which were valued at more than 18 million pesos.
This is the third finding that takes place in 2019. The two previous ones counted, the first 51 units of different types of wood which was found abandoned on one side of the road and was valued at more than 15 million pesos, and the second with 13 units that were transported in a truck and was valued in more than seven million pesos.
In the same way in the three operations, the troops moved the pieces to the Green office of the Autonomous Corporation of Risaralda, Carder, in the municipality of Santa Cecilia, leaving them into custody of the environmental authorities for the illegal trafficking of flora and wildlife.
"For us it is vitally important to protect the environment, in addition to complying with the 'Artemisa' Plan, which is part of the Pact for Sustainability included in the Development Plan of President Iván Duque, and is within the Heroes of the Bicentenary Campaign Plan of the Freedom of the National Army, "said Lieutenant Colonel César Rojas, commander of the San Mateo Battalion.
