· The drug would have a cost of more than 17 million dollars in the illegal market.

· With this finding, we contributed to the protection of public health, preventing the commercialization of more than one million doses of drugs.

Within the framework of search and control operations in the Caribbean Sea, the Colombian Navy dealt a new blow to drug trafficking with the finding of more than half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride, preventing its commercialization in the international illegal market.

The result took place in the midst of search and control work that is carried out at sea in different areas near Cartagena – Bolívar, when a Coast Guard crew decided to provide support to a sailboat that was drifting and without propulsion.

Once the inspection was carried out, the members of the Military Forces noticed that on board the South African-flagged ship sailing with a crew member of Colombian nationality, there were different rectangular packages with an alleged illicit substance, hidden in a compartment with a double bottom in the bow of the boat.

The sailboat that was destined for the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia with its captain, was towed by a naval unit to the Coast Guard station of Cartagena.

Already on land, when carrying out the detailed inspection inside the ship, 445 rectangular packages similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations for the transport of narcotics were found by troops, which were analyzed by the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, which left positive result for 509.7 kilograms of cocaine. The arrested man and the material were put into custody of the Technical Investigation Staff – CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office.
