Through this result it was possible to directly impact the financial arm of the Edgar Madrid Benjumea Structure, of the Clan del Golfo, under the command of the individual known as alias Albeiro, who has criminal interference activities in the municipalities of Cantagallo and San Pablo, in the south of Bolivar.
In a powerful military operation carried out in the last few hours by soldiers of the Infantry Battalion N潞 14 Capitan Antonio Ricaurte, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, a clandestine laboratory of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, Edgar Madrid Benjumea Substructure, was destroyed in controlled conditions in the village Los Catres, municipality of San Mart铆n, Cesar.
During the operation it was possible to find 526 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, 12 gallons of liquid supplies, 110 kilos of solid supplies and specialized equipment for the production of this substance, such as microwave ovens, drying chambers and storage tanks.
This laboratory had the capacity to produce up to 2 tons of cocaine hydrochloride per month, whose destination included national and international markets, supplying foreign criminal organizations such as the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico. Through this important result of the military operation, the financial arm of the Clan del Golfo, under the command of the individual known as alias Albeiro, is significantly hit, and represents an economic loss estimated at more than 1800 million pesos.
These illicit resources were used to obtain weapons, explosives and other elements with which this illegal armed group seeks to expand its influence to the south of the department of Cesar and perpetrate operations against the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
This would be the first drug production laboratory that was possible to dismantle so far this year. During 2024, the troops of the Fifth Brigade managed to destroy five cocaine hydrochloride laboratories in a controlled way, four of them in R铆o de Oro and San Mart铆n, Cesar, and another one in San Pablo, Bol铆var.
This operation, framed in the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, and with the objective of weakening drug trafficking resources, boosts the efforts of the military, police and judicial authorities to combat illicit activities that disturb the safety and well-being of the inhabitants of southern Cesar.
