More than a thousand consultations in the first international medical mission transported by the Air Force

With 1,206 consultations concluded the health brigade carried out by a Foundation of Volunteer Doctors from different countries, who were transported to San José del Guaviare by the Colombian Air Force, on September 17, to provide specialized assistance to the inhabitants of this isolated area in our territory.

The 27 health professionals who came from the United States, India, Costa Rica and Egypt worked hard for a full week achieving a positive impact on the quality of life of the inhabitants of Guaviare. This is how 54 dental consultations, 1,100 medical consultations and 52 surgical interventions for both children and adults were made.

Among the most relevant procedures carried out within the framework of its first medical mission in Latin America, free reconstructive surgeries to treat diagnoses of trauma, burns, malformations, among other identified pathologies, stand out.

This great effort to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants is a reflection of the joint and inter-institutional work of the Guaviare Government, the National Army, the Air Combat Command No.2 and the Police, who not only carried out the logistical tasks, through the air and land movements of the medical team, but in the same way provided security during the activity.
