The drug was detected on board a ship that was apparently sailing to Central America.
The Colombian Navy, within the framework of comprehensive maritime control and security operations, intercepted a ship carrying more than 1.4 tons of narcotics in the waters of the Nariño Pacific.
Units of the Naval Institution in the area inspected the ship, finding that it was crewed by three individuals of Ecuadorian nationality, who were transporting 37 bags, apparently with illicit substances.
The personnel and the material were taken along with the ship to Tumaco - Nariño, where the Technical Investigation Body - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, determining that it was 1,477 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
This finding prevented the entry of US $49.7 million into the finances of drug trafficking organizations, as well as the marketing of more than 3.6 million doses of cocaine on the streets of the world.
The arrested individuals and the drug were put into custody of the authorities.
