In the framework of a river control and security operation carried out by the Colombian Navy in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 2 found more than 1200 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were being transported on board two rudimentary fishing ships.

Crewmen of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 22 detected two suspicious ships in the town Pizarro - Choc贸 department, so they proceeded to intercept them.

In the first inspection of one of the boats, which was crewed by three individuals, the military personnel found a rifle and 20 black sacks, which contained packages similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations to transport illicit substances.

The two men who were crewing the second boat, noticing the existence of the Navy Infantry, tried to throw the packages into the sea, however, the expertise of the crew members of the Naval Institution prevented the cargo from being left, securing the boat; inside troops found 20 other sacks with rectangular packages, a magazine and 212 5.56 mm caliber projectiles.

The personnel and the material were transported to the dock, where the Technical Investigation Staff - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, which left positive result for 1,209 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

With this finding, the Colombian Navy hits the finances of transnational crime organizations by approximately $40 million and prevented the marketing of three million doses of the drug on the streets of the world.

The five arrested individuals and the material found along with the two boats, were put into custody of the authorities for prosecution, for the alleged crimes of trafficking, manufacture and / or carrying of narcotics, manufacture and illegal carrying of firearms or ammunition.
