In the framework of the Heroes de la Libertad Bicentennial Plan, a heavy blow was struck against the Jaime Toño Obando Company of the GAO Eln, upon finding and destroying a coca base paste laboratory. The result was achieved by troops of the Twenty-third Brigade, of the Third Division, through operations aimed at attacking the drug trafficking chain in the country.

The result, framed in the operation Francisco José de Caldas, was carried out in the rural area of the village Pangus, in the municipality of Los Andes, in the department of Nariño, where troops of the Infantry Battalion No.9 'Batalla de Boyacá', find the clandestine laboratory, camouflaged in the middle of the vegetation, which was constituted in a rustic structure of cement floor, roof in palm. In the place troops found 50 gallons coca base paste in process, 100 gallons of gasoline, 25 kilograms of lime, 11 barrels to store precursors, three plastic tanks and a Buggy type cart.

The laboratory had the necessary infrastructure to achieve the entire production chain of cocaine hydrochloride, until its commercialization, and had a production capacity of 40 kilograms of drug per week.

With the destruction of the laboratory, the illicit finances and activities of the so called company 'Jaime Toño Obando' of Eln are significantly hit.

The Twenty-third Brigade continues to damage the illicit economy of the Organized Armed Groups and the factors of instability that harm the tranquility of the inhabitants of the department of Nariño.
