Troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) - Cauca, of the Infantry Battalion No. 7 'General José Hilario López' of the Twenty-ninth Brigade of the National Army, in a joint operation with the Air Combat Command No. 7 of the Colombian Air Force, liberate a merchant of the municipality of Cajibío, in the department of Cauca.

The kidnapping for extortion, apparently carried out by the “third” organized armed group, was carried out after having held a meeting to several merchants of the village of San Antonio in the municipality of Cajibío. These individuals abducted Mr. Sergio Antonio Vargas, 68, whose release would have costed an important amount of money.

Once the kidnapping occurred, the relatives asked for the assistance of the National Army, through the Reparc Civic Participation Network, so that immediately the military begin to work to achieve the release of this citizen.

After 18 hours of joint military operations, where the Air Force Combat No. 7 of the Air Force, made a flyover in the area the kidnapped was liberated due to the pressure exerted by land and air in the area.

The man was taken to his home, so he was reunited with his family, who expressed their gratitude to the Security forces, since they did not cease the mission until finding him.
