For more than four hours and after heavy fighting on the road that connects Miranda and Corinto, it was possible to deactivate a heavy explosive charge.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, troops of the Twenty-Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army carried out a military operation in which the controlled destruction of a gas cylinder-type explosive device took place, on the road that connects the municipalities of Miranda and Corinto, in the department of Cauca.
The device, which represented a serious threat to the safety of the inhabitants, their free movement and vehicular traffic on this important road, was detected in the sector known as La Munda; upon arriving at the place, the military units engaged heavy clashes against members of the Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz Structure, who tried to prevent the destruction of the device.
As a result, after three hours of operation, specialized technicians of the DELTA Explosives and Demolition Group carried out the controlled destruction of the device, following the security protocols to prevent hitting the inhabitants and the constructions of the area.
Colombian National Army reiterates its commitment to continue carrying out military operations against organized armed groups that attack the safety and well-being of the inhabitants of the region.
In the same way, denunciations will be filed to the authorities for the flagrant violation of human rights and the violation of international humanitarian law.
