In military operations, troops of the National Army, deployed in the northeast of Antioquia, in recent hours captured alias “Gabino”, second ringleader of the Front Heroes y Martires de Anorí of the Eln.
The event occurred in the village La Concha, rural area of the municipality of Anorí, where the military arrived, guided by information provided by the Civic Participation Network, and found the place where this individual tried to hide of the heavy operation that was being carried out in the department against the Organized Armed Groups that there commit crimes. At that time there was a firefight that ended with the arrest of alias “Gabino”.
This individual, 26, has an extensive criminal record of more than eight years of criminal operation, he would have participated in the planning and execution of several criminal operations, including the killing of members of the security forces in 2014 and 2016, as well as in the kidnapping of six people (including two minors) in the rural area of Amalfi. In the same way, he would be involved in the terrorist operation where a fragmentation grenade was launched against the Anorí Police Station on January 22 and in an attack against an energy tower that provided that basic service to the company Mineros S.A. in the hamlet Providencia of the same municipality.
In the operation troops found a rifle of high precision caliber 50 mm, a pistol, a high precision sight, five kilograms of explosives, garments of private use of the security forces, clothing with emblems alluding to the ELN, communications equipment, as well as a portable computer, several USB memories with information from that organized armed group that at this time is verified by military intelligence analysts of the National Army.
This is the most decisive hit that this criminal structure suffers, since with the neutralization of alias “Gabino” it is possible to diminish the logistical and terrorist capacity, which derives in a weakening of its criminal intentions.
