National Army and National Police protect the people of Risaralda, with the destruction of three improvised explosive devices

Ejército Nacional y Policía Nacional protegen a la comunidad de Risaralda, con la destrucción de tres artefactos explosivos improvisados

Thanks to coordinated operations conducted by both institutions, it was possible to find three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that had been hidden in a rural sector of Belen of Umbria and Mistrató, Risaralda department.

In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, especially the second objective of weakening the resources of the threat, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 8 San Mateo, during a military operation coordinated with the Risaralda Department Police, reported the finding of three IED of the Edwin Roman Velasquez Valle Substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo.

Thanks to a human source and the joint efforts conducted by the military intelligence and the Sijin group of the Police, these devices were found in the Buenavista village of Belén de Umbria, as well as La Linda and Zaquías, belonging to the municipality of Mistrató, in the department of Risaralda.

These gas cylinder-like objects were hidden away from populated centers and did not have activation systems. The controlled destruction of these was carried out thanks to the Army's Explosives and Demining Group (EXDE) and the Police's Anti-Explosive Group, eliminating the risk of possible damages by this organized armed group.

Colombian National Army, through the San Mateo Battalion, of the Eighth Brigade, continues to work for the security of all the people who inhabit the department of Risaralda.
