Thanks to the timely denunciation and military intelligence work, an individual was caught while receiving a large sum of money, product of the demand made to a rancher in the region.
The National Army in a coordinated work with the National Police, in the municipality of Candilejas Alto, in the municipality of Puerto Lleras, Meta, arrested an individual accused of being an extortionist of the support network for the residual structures of the organized armed group, GAO-r, residual structure seventh.
In November 2020, apparently through phone calls and leaflets, this individual would be making money from extortion in the name of a criminal structure, exerting pressure to not attack against the good physical condition of the family of the victim.
The arrested individual was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for the crime of extortion.
This military operation of the National Army was carried out within the framework of the Bicentenary plan Heroes Of Freedom and Operation Pedro Pascasio Martínez, which aims to combat extortion, kidnapping, smuggling and illegal exploitation of mining sites.
The military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) invites the inhabitants to denounce on the national toll-free line 147, any situation that threatens the tranquility of the people.
