In military operations carried out in the department of Arauca by the troops of the Quiron Task Force, it was possible to capture in flagrante delicto seven alleged members of the GAO - Eln and the Residual GAO - Primera Structure with material of war and elements that connect them to criminal groups.
In the municipality of Arauquita two of these decisive military operations took place. The first of them in the village La Osa, where alias “Jota” and alias “Caro” were captured in a checkpoint. They were went on van-like vehicle transporting a high-capacity motorcycle and carrying a 7.65-caliber pistol, a Browing brand, a metallic magazine and seven cartridges. This material, together with the apprehended, that would make part of the ELN, were put into custody of SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE).
In the same way, in the urban area of the same municipality, in the settlement known as 26 de Octubre, in coordination with the National Police, a man who apparently would be member of the residual Gao “First” Structure, was detained by the troops with two 16-mm shotguns, their respective cartridges, 37 shots (pellets) and two lead bars.
Finally, in Fortul, four more individuals were surprised when they tried to kidnap a citizen after forcing him to abandon the collective passenger transport vehicle in which he was traveling. The Military Units in the sector intercepted the truck in which the kidnapping was being carried out, finding a 32mm revolver. Those captured who in the same way would be part of the residual Gao “Primera” Structure, were handed over to the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE), while the troops of the Eighteenth Brigade continue to provide security and accompaniment in the judicial process.
